Brompton Dock cycle hire rides into Woking

Twenty Brompton folding bicycles are now available to hire from Woking train station, making it easier for residents and visitors to travel sustainably around the town and beyond. A Brompton Dock will house the bicycles, which can be hired on a day-to-day basis.
Funded by Surrey County Council’s Travel SMART initiative, the dock will greatly increase the amount of sustainable door-to-door journeys that can be made in and around Woking. Its installation follows the trial of a similar dock at Guildford train station which has proved a huge success. Brompton Dock is a unique cycle hire scheme that offers its members 24/7/365 access to Brompton bikes.
After registering at, members can reserve a bike online or by text message from any of Brompton’s public docks including the one at Woking station.
The dock is just one of a raft of measures being put in place by the Travel SMART programme, which aims to help Surrey residents cut calories, carbon and cost.

The new hub will be officially opened on Wednesday 30 October by John Furey, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport. The dock will be promoted by media relations, social media and a direct marketing campaign at Woking station.

Travel SMART is currently offering Surrey residents annual membership of Brompton Dock for just £10 (usually £20). Please encourage your residents to get in touch with the Travel SMART team on or call 03456 009 009 for more details of how to access the offer.
