My name is Colin Kemp and in May 2013 I was fortunate to be elected by the residents of Horsell Village and Goldsworth East to represent them at Surrey County Council. I have lived in Woking for 26 Years with my wife Karen and we have a daughter, Yasmin, who is now 21 and is at Portsmouth University. For the last 7 years I have run my own business in the Woking area.
I have always been interested in working within the local community and this started when my daughter was in primary school, where I became an active member of the school PTA and then Chairman for two years. This sparked my interest in supporting young people in the community and during this time I also became a Governor at New Monument school in Maybury.
I am presently Chairman of Governors at St John the Baptist secondary school, a role from which I gain a great deal of satisfaction, helping to prepare young adults before they are let loose on the hard world of trying to find further education or employment.
Although I have not been a Councillor before, I have been involved in local politics for the last 10 years. I live in Horsell west on the boundary of Goldsworth East and I am relishing the opportunity to work within the area.
I am also an active member of St Dunstans Church and I am great believer that all Places of Worship and Faith play an important role in supporting all age groups within the local community. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the next few months and if you have any questions or issues don’t hesitate to contact me or say hello if you see me about.
